What is the use of insulators

2021-10-22

The main function of the insulator is to firmly support and fix the current-carrying conductor and form a good insulation between the current-carrying conductor and the ground. The insulator (commonly known as the porcelain bottle) consists of a porcelain part and a metal fitting. The middle is glued with a cement adhesive. The porcelain part is to ensure that the insulator has good electrical insulation strength, and the fittings are used to fix the insulator.
When a flashover occurs due to a voltage shock, the local overheating will not cause the insulator's tempered glass body to burst. All external factors will affect the performance of the insulator. Therefore, higher requirements are put forward for the design of glass insulators. The design requirements of glass insulators need to be treated strictly, with strict design and practical foundations.
Maintenance and management: In humid weather conditions, dirty insulators are prone to flashover discharge, so they must be cleaned to restore the original insulation level. Normal areas are cleaned once a year, and dirty areas are cleaned twice a year (once before the foggy season) .
Power-off cleaning: cleaning without power-off, generally using an insulating rod equipped with a brush or tied with cotton yarn to wipe the insulator on the running line. The electrical performance and effective length of the insulating rod used, as well as the distance between the person and the live part, should meet the requirements of the corresponding voltage level, and special personnel must be supervised during operation.

Electric water flushing: two methods: big water flushing and small water flushing. The flushing water, the effective length of the operating rod, the distance between the person and the live part, etc. must comply with the requirements of the industry regulations.
